The inlet valve is used in conjunction with a check valve.
After the high-pressure heater is filled with water, as the water pressure increases and reaches a specific level, the pressure differential across the stem cross-section of the inlet valve forces the valve to open automatically.
This allows steam to enter the heater for heating purposes. When the unit is shut down or the water supply is interrupted, the inlet valve closes pr

Description
The inlet valve operates in tandem with a check valve. After the high-pressure heater is filled with water, the rising water pressure creates a differential force across the stem cross-section of the inlet valve. This force lifts the stem upward, raising the disc and opening the passage to allow water to enter the high-pressure heater, thereby commissioning the heater.
In the event of a heater failure (e.g., tube rupture) where the water level exceeds the allowable limit, a level signal triggers an electrical device to activate the rapid-closure bypass valve. Condensate is then directed into the upper piston chamber of the inlet valve, forcing the piston downward. This action drives the disc down to shut off the inlet to the high-pressure heater while simultaneously opening the bypass, isolating the heater from the system. The full actuation time is 2 seconds.
Key Features
-
Automatic Pressure-Driven Operation: Opens via water pressure differential without external power.
-
Emergency Rapid Closure: Actuates within 2 seconds to prevent equipment damage during failures.
-
Fail-Safe Bypass Integration: Automatically redirects flow to bypass upon shutdown.
Applications
-
High-pressure heater systems in thermal and nuclear power plants.
-
Critical processes requiring rapid isolation during tube ruptures or overpressure events.
