Description
The extraction steam check valve is a specialized rapid-acting valve designed to protect turbo-generator units. It prevents reverse steam flow from extraction pipelines and heat exchangers back into the turbine during sudden load shedding events, when turbine pressure drops abruptly. This eliminates the risk of turbine blade reversal (at speeds exceeding 3000 RPM), which could cause blade failure and turbo-generator damage. The valve also mitigates water hammer effects that may occur if water leaks into the turbine due to heater system failures. In such scenarios, the valve closes within 0.5 seconds.
Pneumatic Actuation: The pneumatic check valve opens via compressed air, which acts on a piston within a cylinder. The piston, connected to a yoke, rotates the stem to open the valve. Closure is achieved by a spring mechanism once the air supply is cut off by the solenoid valve.
Sealing Surfaces: The sealing surfaces of the disc and seat are coated with advanced hard-facing materials, offering exceptional wear resistance and anti-galling properties.
Stem Sealing: A high-performance modern packing material ensures reliable sealing and smooth operation.
Key Features
